What is YAD
Young Adults Division (YAD) is dedicated to developing and educating young leaders throughout the Jewish world. The division seeks to enhance the knowledge and relationship of dedicated young adults to their heritage, their people and to the State of Israel. YAD facilitates the involvement of young adults in responding to the great challenges of Jewish life today.
Through their activities, Young Leaders can join hands across national and international boundaries in a collective effort to transform Jewish life and to ensure the future security of the State of Israel and the well being of the Jewish people.
We strive to encourage the younger generations to follow in the footsteps before them in their support of Israel.
Thanks to generous donors, our organisation exists today in order to ensure the security and protection of Jews and a Jewish way of life.
YAD’s High Priority Programs include the following:
Etgarim:
This program involves teaching inventive thinking & coping skills to Israel’s most vulnerable populations: disabled soldiers, Holocaust survivors, disadvantaged youth, new immigrant families from countries of distress, & others.
Lone Immigrant Soldiers:
Are motivated, idealistic Jewish young adults from around the world who choose to leave their families & their homes to serve in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) & start a new life in Israel. Many do not speak Hebrew, are not familiar with Israeli culture & have no support system in Israel.
Renovation of Public Bomb Shelters:
Thousands of public bomb shelters are in a state of disrepair. In addition to lacking basic amenities, many have been found to be structurally unsound, with broken flooring & poor insulation. No one can guess when or where the next attack will be, but when war suddenly strikes, bomb shelters will be critical to all!
IUA/UCF Annual campaign
Thanks to generous donors, our organisation exists today in order to ensure the security and protection of Jews and a Jewish way of life.
IUA contributions are used with similar contributions from around the world to help save Jewish lives, strengthen Jewish identity, fortify the fabric of Israeli society and to reinforce solidarity amongst Jewish people around the world. The vision of the IUA is to strengthen Israeli society by facilitating aliyah and absorption, bringing opportunity to disadvantaged communities and border towns and inspiring Diaspora youth to connect to Israel.
UCF contributions fund the protection of Jewish interests and rights in South Africa which is critical to ensure that we continue to enjoy and perpetuate the current growth and development in what must surely rank as one of the most vibrant and dynamic Jewish communities in the world. Security has become an important aspect of our campaign and our worthy beneficiaries are the CSO, The South African Jewish Board of Deputies and the South African Union of Jewish Students on campuses throughout the country.
This year, with the 2010 World Cup Soccer taking place in South Africa, it has become a National priority of the UCF to ensure the safety and security of our Jewish community. As we were tragically reminded in Mumbai, attacks on Israeli citizens and Jews have become borderless. The 2010 Soccer event will see an influx of visitors to South Africa and it has become imperative that we protect our own.
Your involvement, your support, your impact, can help us make a difference.
