Even the forces of darkness
had a good laugh at this lot
Well done to outgoing SA Union of Jewish Students (SAUJS) chair Steph Hodes who, despite the fact that she has just finished exams and is making Aliyah on Monday, managed to muster a strong corps of Jewish students to creatively protest against the Russell Tribunal in Cape Town last weekend.
The pictures of the students dressed in their kangaroo suits (Right and Below) we stole from … wait for it … the forces of evil’s BDS FACEBOOK PAGE which is well worth taking a look at. They are very complimentary of the students’ outfits and some even propose hiring them for functions. Worth a look – for the most part the comments are good clean fun – if they weren’t, we wouldn’t be sending you there.
And then there’s this spoof video of a kangaroo court in session, made by the students at the posh courtroom of the Joburg Beth Din - it really is a clever and fun affair.
And so it certainly is hats off to the students and fare well to outgoing chair Steph who ends with a bang (as we should have anticipated). SA communal leadership loses one of its most promising protégé’s – but as this is a case of SA’s loss is Israel’s gain, it’s all okay with us.
We at MyShtetl wish you everything you could wish for yourself. We have no doubt that you will continue to work for your new community as hard as you did for us. And that you will stay in touch with us diasporatics on MyShtetl.
