Poor old Mick in Toronto

One can just imagine that when Shtetler Mick and his family emigrated 12 years ago, one of the deciding factors must have been the fact that Thornhill, Toronto, is one of the most stable places.

They have a stable economy and a stable society. Everything happens on time and on budget and even the robots are adjusted on Shabbos and Chagim to accommodate the Jewish residents.

Crime rates are low and successful prosecution after crimes is high. People obey laws, don’t speed or get drunk and disorderly very much.

And, of course, the place has stable and predictable weather. Natural disasters are unheard of and the only risks are the ice ages that pass through town every 100-million years or so.

So imagine Mick’s surprise at being rocked by an earthquake for 40 seconds yesterday. A life-long sufferer of motion sickness, he says he nearly had an attack during the quake.

Okay, you’re thinking: ‘but that was the biggest East-Coast event for over 100 years. They’re not going to have strange events upsetting their lives for a long time again.’

Well, I’ll be darned. Just a few hours later Mick got the attached warning of a pending high-risk of tornadoes. Tornados?

We think you better pack up the wife and kids, Mick, and move back to SA.
