Gerald Leissner is not the type to slow down the pace of his activities. The JSE listing of Arrowhead Properties on Friday is the eighth listed property vehicle with which our Gerald has been involved.

For those who thought Gerald was semi-retiring to communal work – think again.

He has been in the property business for 47 years and officially retired in 2009, when he resigned from the now defunct ApexHi Properties. However, at the age of 69, he has returned to run the JSE's sixth real estate listing in the past year.

Leissner ran Anglo American's property portfolio and was involved in rejuvenating Johannesburg's inner city.

Arrowhead will pay quarterly dividends, making it particularly appealing to retirees who want consistent income. Its main focus will be on paying growing income returns to its investors through escalating rentals, renewals of leases and renting vacant space in the portfolio, managing costs and buying revenue-generating properties.

The portfolio includes 89 properties valued at R1.7-billion. The company listed at R9.38 and was trading at R10.75 mid- morning on Friday.
