Did we catch you on April Fools?

Two of MyShtetl’s most regular users came up with the same thought: Why not have some fun with fellow-Shtetlers on April Fools’ Day?

Both independently submitted a bogus story to the publisher ahead of 1 April. MyShtetl staffers added some reality and illustrations it worked a treat.

The first story came from ChabadGirl and was about the Knesset deciding on the construction of Apple’s biggest iSstore ever - in the heart of old Jerusalem right next to the Kotel. The proposed store, said the story, had been a point of conflict between religious, secular & business interests.

We wonder how far into the Apple iStore story Shtetlers read before realising they were being pranked.

The second story was submitted by a leading figure in the community and the publisher agreed not to share the identity of the proposer with anybody – not even staffers.

Our teaser read “IN BREAKING NEWS: UJ Deputy Vice-Chancellor lured to BGU reports J-Post this morning. MyShtetl has just concluded an interview with the man who made it happen. This is sure to be THE talking point this Shabbas!”

Quite a few Shtetlers reported being caught by our UJ/BGU until the very end. Did you get caught?
