Back in 2009 MyShtetl produced a special Chanukah masthead. It was a hit with Shtetlers as we lit another candle each evening. So popular was it that we ran it again in 2010 & I fully intended to do so this year too! So what went wrong?

The eight special MyShtetl mastheads, each one containing another candle each evening, was a project this website first rolled out in December 2009. So popular was it that we ran it again in 2010 and had every intention of running it this year too!

This year’s fault lay with me alone (understandable, I suppose, for an aging man publishing new media). In 2009 I was so proud of my idea that I made sure it was developed and signed off a month ahead of Chanukah. I had worked with a friend and great graphic designer Stephen in Jeffreys Bay, MyShtetl’s IT boffin Yosef in Joburg and the website’s developer Jonathan in Cape Town. Everything was in place well in time.

2010 worked like a dream too. So what went wrong with Chanukah 2011? Nothing, actually, but I only came to that realisation too late to do anything about it. Sound intriguing?
